The ideal situation of Combourg, in the county of St Malo, promises lovely outings!

After having visited  Combourg Castle, impregnated by the soul of Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, you can escape towards the Mont St Michel, where you will be amazed by the force of the elements and the ingenuity of the builders of the abbey.

In Dinan or Fougeres you can dive into the heart of the middle ages by wandering through the streets, lined with timber framed houses or visit the medieval strongholds while at Rennes you can learn the history of Brittany, while admiring the gold ornamentation of the Parliament.

At St Malo you can laze on the wonderful beaches of fine sand, take the boat to Jersey or Guernsey or walk around the famous ramparts if you are not taking the sea bus to Dinard.

In Cancale, you could be tempted to taste a few oysters, just out of the sea or stroll along the smugglers passage.

Take note: in 2015 there are many very high tides.

Are you curious about the nature in this part of Brittany? The fauna of the land and at sea will be revealed to you at the Zoo de la Bourbansais, at the Grand Aquarium of St Malo, at the Oyster museum in Cancale or in the mussel farming of the Bay of Mont St Michel whereas the flora will reveal it’s splendour in some beautiful parks, like the gardens of the Ballue or the gardens of the botanic park of Brittany.
